The Feast

Long ago there was a Chief (رئیس ) who wanted to share a special feast (هوسانه ) with his people. He sent messengers to every village. The messengers told the people to come to the Chief’s house that Friday at noon. "The Chief asks each family to bring one bottle of palm wine (شراب نخل) and pour (ریختن) it into the big pot at the Chief's door."
The day of the feast came! The people were so excited (برانگیخته
)! They put on their best clothes and, with much happiness, went to the Chief’s feast. Each family stopped at the Chief’s house and poured their bottle of wine into the big pot at the door.
There was a man named Abdul who wanted to go to the feast very much. But he had no palm wine. His wife said to him, "You must buy some palm wine."
But Abdul answered, "What?!  No. I don't want to buy wine for such a rich (ثروتمند
) Chief. No. No!"
He thought a little and then said, "Hundreds (صدها
) of people will bring their wine and pour it into the pot. One bottle of water will not be noticed (مورد توجه قرار نخواهد گرفت) in so much wine!"
So Abdul and his wife went to the feast with a bottle of water. Abdul poured his bottle into the pot as other people did. Then he and his wife sat down at the beautiful table full of wonderful foods and fruits. They had never seen so much food!
The Chief stood up and said, "Welcome, my dear guests! Let us drink wine in honor of (به افتخار
) our village! Let us drink in honor of always giving our best to each other as I have given you this beautiful feast today!"
All the guests took their glasses. But when they tasted the wine, it was NOT palm wine. It was water!
So Abdul was not the only one who thought, "A bottle of water will not be noticed in so much wine."
